Secondly,I would suggest the wide-scale adoption of the concept ofretrofitting so as to reduce the city`s greenhouse gas emissionsignificantly. There is no doubt that the largest consumers ofelectricity in the globe are buildings. However, a significantproportion of energy efficiency potential of buildings isunexploited. In this approach, the concept of energy efficiency willbe passed to owners of buildings and further encouragement to adoptthe concept may be realized through the provision of tax incentives.Retrofits would, therefore, lead to drastic reduction in heatconsumption, hence improving the comfort within buildings.

Thirdly,I would propose a policy that champions for energy efficiency withinhomes. This will require the initial assessment of energy consumptionwithin homes. This can be achieved by contractors specialized in homeperformance. Through this approach, will be able to gain atop-to-bottom outlook of wasteful appliances and practices in homes.After the completion of this process, the contractors will providerecommendations that will aid in energy efficiency.
