EVICTED

Accordingto Matthew (2016), evicted refers to the people in the lower socialand financial class in America. As viewed in his book the tenants whospend half of their salary in the suburbs of Milwaukee. Nonetheless,in sociology character defines an individual it can be liked totraits that are attributed to someone. According to the book, thepeople considered evicted are the poor or people who are strugglingwith something in their lives. Notably, the landlords loathed some ofthe tenants regardless of the fact that the landlords fed from therent they collected form those people thus the evicted made thelandlords rich by renting their houses. The world is organized insuch a way that people have a place whose confines are automaticallyset by the world. The evicted are automatically confined in lowerplaces in the society. They are considered inferior to other peoplewho are moneyed or financially able.

Anevicted character has an achieved status in the social structure. That is because the evicted do things that make their status happenthey do not necessary to be there in the social structure. The lackof finances for the people and the things they do to earn theirliving places them there in the social structure. The social locationcan be defined as information that determined a particularindividual`s place within a given community. There are various thatdefine one`s social location some are changeable while others arenot. For instance, one cannot change their race, but they can changetheir social, economic status. An individual can also alter theirsocial location through acquiring education. These aspects supportthe view that the social location of a person changes their worldview thus their environment. A poor person is considered to be on thelower side of the social, economic class.

Thesocial factors that have impacted the evicted people’s lives arethe scarcity of money. As posited in the book the people had to usehalf of their salaries to pay an essential bill which is the rent ofthe houses they lived in. The people of the Milwaukee are alsoracially segregated. The region is a black ghetto where most of thepopulation is women. Drug abuse is also another factor that isrampant in this region as described by the author. Substance abusemay have not the grandparents of the evicted but is a social vicefacing them as a result of hopelessness. The situation might havebeen different if these people grew up in another suburb. Forinstance, if they were raised up in a neighborhood like Brooklyn thenthey would be in a different social class thus the factors that wouldhave shaped their lives would have been different.
