Compareand Contrast between Sage and SAP

Sageand SAP are almost similar organizations regarding the solutions theyprovide to the market. The two companies are both in the softwaresolutions industry. SAP is one of the largest software firmsglobally. SAP and Oracle are currently the only two tier 1 softwaresolution providers. Sage was founded in 1981 when the founders wrotethe first accounting software as a summer job. SAP now is the largestsoftware solutions providers by market share and it was formed in1972 (James,2015 pg14).

Compareand Contrast between Sage and SAP

SAPand Sage are both software solutions experts. The two companiessupply ERPs and other enterprise solutions to the market. SAP is anAmerican based multinational while Sage is based in the UnitedKingdom. SAP is a tier 1 software firm (Kude,2012 pg67).This means SAP targets firms with revenue of over a billion USdollars. Sage, on the other hand, is a Tier 2 company, and their maintarget market is the midsized companies. SAP is the largest softwaresolutions provider in the world regarding market share and controlsabout 30% of the total market. Sage is a large organization butcontrols less than 5% of the total market share. SAP offers some ofthe most complex software solutions available in the market andtargets the blue chip companies with large financial muscle. Sage, onthe other hand, offers much simpler solutions at a lower price thanSAP. Sage aims mainly the small and midsized business (Wong,2015 pg86).

Conclusion

Sageand SAP companies have similarities and differences. SAP and Sage aresimilar in that they are both in the same industry. There also existsmajor differences such the country they are based in and the targetmarkets. SAP is a much older and more established firm compared toSage (Yun,2015 pg91).
